Hey everybody! I hope your doing well this week! While I'm certainly appreciating the warmth of summer and giving my mind somewhat of a break, I still like to take opportunities to catch up on books and articles that I find informative. In this week's post I wanted to share a few books that I think are great for helping you improve your practice as educators at various grade levels. If you are a parent reading this week's post, then I encourage you to consider adding these books to your collection of resources when thinking about the transformational approach that education has taken in the 21st Century. Click on the book titles below for more information. Building Math Minds in Learners Mathematical Mindsets by Jo Boaler Student-Centered Coaching: A guide for K-8 Coaches and Principals by Dianne Sweeney The Formative 5 by: Francis Fennell, Beth Kobett, & Jonathan Wray Supporting the Whole Child What Great Teachers Do Differently by Todd Whit Closing The Attitude Gap by Baruti Kafele The Bully, the Bullied, and the Bystander by Barbara Coloroso Going full STEM ahead This article provides great insight into the barriers that deter our girls from taking an interest in STEM Programs in schools. Click on the link to watch this great video that shows how play in one PreK classroom allows young learners to explore STEM. These are all wonderful resources that I hope you find helpful. As you enjoy your time outdoors this summer chilling at the beach, pool, or inside in your air-conditioned home, I hope you take the time to look at some of the resources I've shared with you. Until next time...go out there and be GREAT!
